The Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) is advertising a vacancy for the Government Operations Consultant I. This position will collaborate with each section within the program office and be required to use independent judgement, take initiative in carrying out duties and responsibilities and should be extraordinarily detail oriented.
The primary areas of responsibility for this position include:
- Requests, collects, and provides advice related to jail medical forms provided for each defendant committed to DCF under Chapter 916, F.S., within required timeframes.
- Receive and field phone calls for facility section staff
- Handling highly confidential information.
- Enter demographic information to the Forensic System; upload related documents; make appropriate notations in the system that information has been requested;
- Assist in the management of the DCF Forensic Admissions Process in accordance with Chapter 916, F.S., duties may include; initial review of commitment order to ensure information of charges for all case numbers on the commitment order, arrest report and current forensic evaluation are present and requesting the Clerk of the court for missing information provided by them.
- Assists to continuously check the DCF Forensic Email in-box to add missing information to complete packets
- Working directly with Forensic Admission Team members at headquarters, as well as identified team members at State Mental Health Treatment Facilities
- In absence of AA I team member may be required to: Provide support staff assistance to the Chief of facilities and other staff; Process personnel paperwork; Process purchase orders
- Performing other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of experience serving as a lead or assistant on a major research project?
4 years of experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- 4 years of experience proofing/editing documents and generating written correspondence (i.e., reports, letters, memos, etc.)
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred and one year of administrative experience.
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
- Administrative or clerical experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education.
- Professional or nonprofessional experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the preferred education.
