Application areas include modeling of advanced manufacturing processes, computational fluid dynamics, and plasma physics. The successful candidate will have experience with open source multiphysics frameworks such as OpenFOAM, experience coupling these frameworks to custom research codes in high performance computing environments, and experience with time-parallel methods. Communication and teamwork across multiple groups at ORNL will be key in order to verify models and algorithms, validate their use for specific applications, and quantify the uncertainty associated with predictions made using these tools.
