This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. The Local Recovery Coordinator (LRC) is a Social Work Coordinator located at the Danville Medical Center and serves to 1) assist in implementation of policies and procedures from the National Recovery Coordinator (NRC) and to 2) facilitate implementation of recovery-oriented, Veteran-centered services in Mental Health programs, which includes education of providers and Veterans and their families on recovery and oversight of implementation efforts. Major Duties: Ensures a psychosocial assessment on each patient is documented in the medical record and includes identification of psychosocial needs in accordance with program standards. Provides direct clinical services to Veterans and their families based upon psychosocial assessment that includes, but not limited to: individual, family, marital and group therapy, supportive counseling and case management, education, and crisis intervention. Assists the interdisciplinary team in the formulation and documentation of the plan as well as in the reviews and updates. Documents in the computer record the appropriate and relevant interventions. Functions as a champion and advocate for the recovery model. Also, serves as a point of contact to guide program managers and staff on recovery and implementation of recovery-oriented services. Develops a facility recovery education plan for staff and Veterans and their families. An ongoing education plan for providers includes but is not limited to recurrent didactic presentations about elements of recovery and recovery implementation; information about community MH support groups and national recovery materials and resources (e.g., how to communicate recovery to patients and families); availability of recovery posters and brochures; training on cultural competency; and development and coordination of local recovery training as needed. Provides recovery training at New Employee Orientation. Interfaces between local initiatives and national planning. An ongoing education plan for Veterans and families includes, but is not limited to, recurrent didactic presentations about recovery by experts; presentations by recovering individuals, especially Veterans as available; information about VA and community MH support groups and other resources; and information about how to become involved in improving MH care for Veterans through the Veterans Mental Health Council or stakeholder groups. Serves as consultant to Mental Health programs and recovering Veterans in development of peer support groups, consumer counseling and consumer-operated services, as per local needs and resources. Promoted utilization of available community resources. Serves as consultant to peer specialists regarding recovery-oriented care.
