JOB DESCRIPTION: The Assistant DHS RN assists with maintaining the quality of care of all residents and supports the philosophy of the community. This position requires flexibility, time management skills, a knowledge base of the geriatric population who may have complex medical needs, the ability to oversee the medication administration program, and the capacity to supervise the health services staff as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the DHS to ensure that policies, procedures, and state regulations are being followed
• Provide hands-on nursing care during the course of the day when needed
• Maintain a leadership role to all health services staff
• Assess the health conditions and needs of the residents upon move-in and when a change of condition indicates assessment and/or as directed by the Director of Health Services
• Participate in the development of the Plan of Care; Attend plan of care meetings when requested
• Become proficient at gathering and inputting information into an electronic care/service plan system
• Communicate and coordinate with case managers, guardians, family members, or regulators when resident’s safety is at risk
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed
