Job description: World Media Group is looking for a talented lawyer to join its senior management team and assist in the development of new businesses and in the operations of Lawyer.com, Inc.

World is a leading developer of technology businesses including Doctor.com and Lawyer.com. In addition, it partners with strong management teams to build out World’s portfolio of premium domain names including Calendar.com, Scientist.com and Outerspace.com. World invests in crypto assets and lead $12mm in financings for the NFT platform, Sweet.io.

World’s primary operating business is Lawyer.com, Inc. which also controls operating businesses at Attorney.com, TopAttorney.com, LawyerLine, Couple.com and Climb Inc. Lawyer is growing rapidly and will need a large share of the the Associate General Counsel’s focus.

Associate General Counsel’s initial work will include leading discovery in an ongoing litigation matter so we are looking for a lawyer with deposition and discovery experience. We are working with major law firm on legal strategy but plan to bring discovery in house.

Depending on capabilities, Associate General Counsel may work on financings, M&A, partnerships, strategy and business development. World principals have extensive related experience and can provide excellent training for the right candidate. Successful candidate will also be up for promotion to General Counsel and senior executive roles within World and its operating businesses. In all cases, significant stock ownership options are available.

Associate General Counsel will be the first legal hire at World so the successful candidate will have flexibility to set their responsibilities. The majority of the responsibilites will be related to business developement and operations so we are looking for a strong business oriented candidate. World business operations are based on rigorous analytics so the right candiate will be comfortable with financial and marketing analysis.

World and Lawyer are headquartered in Basking Ridge, NJ. Successful candidate will work 3-5 days per week at the headquarters and report directly to World’s CEO.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong academic track record at leading institutions
  • 2+ years legal experience
  • Experience conducting depositions, document discovery and case research
  • Interest in developing business management and operations skills.
  • Potential to train and manage junior professionals.
  • Analytical, able to extract insights from diverse information sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for learning and mastering new skills
  • A strong sense of ownership and personal accountability
  • Enjoy fast moving start-up environment
  • Positive fun inclusive personality
  • Team player interested in supporting junior employees and other departments.
  • Interest in investing, business strategy and product management
  • Short commute to Basking Ridge, NJ office.
  • U.S. citizen or work permit

Optional Requirements:

  • LIcensed to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania or New York.
  • Capital raising and M&A experience.
  • Experience in technology start-ups
  • Experience with business development, product development and marketing

Expected salary: $75000 – 150000 per year
