Job description: The Robert J. Dole-Wichita VA Medical Center� is seeking an� experienced physician executive� for its� Chief of Staff opportunity.

The Wichita, KS VA� consists of a� primary and secondary care teaching hospital� located in� Wichita, KS and six� Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in Dodge City, KS; Hays, KS; Hutchinson, KS; Liberal, KS; Parsons, KS and Salina, KS. The system serves a potential veteran population of 30,000 veterans living in 59 counties of the state. The Medical Center is part of VHA VISN 15, which includes the Eastern Kansas Health Care System (Topeka & Leavenworth), Kansas City, Columbia, St. Louis, Marion, and Poplar Bluff VA Medical Centers. The geographic region includes: Kansas, Missouri, Southern Illinois, and Southern Indiana.

You will be the� President of the Medical Staff� and� Chairperson of the Executive Council of the Medical Staff.� You will provide� administrative, clinical, and programmatic leadership to ensure the quality and safety of all facets of patient care, treatment and services and will implement Veterans Health Administration (VHA) goals of patient centered care, population-based medicine, customer service, and accountability for quality cost effectiveness and collaboration.�

Requirements:

  • US citizenship� �
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • MD/DO Degree accredited by 1) Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME); 2) Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA); or 3) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
  • Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited medical residency (or equivalent) in a specialty leading to eligibility for Board Certification
  • Full and unrestricted medical license from a U.S. state or territory

The Ideal Candidate will possess the following characteristics and attributes:

  • Extensive clinical and academic experience and understanding of the relationship between various patient care providers
  • History of successful administrative accomplishments
  • Leadership traits that demonstrate the courage of convictions, patience, and an ability to work with others

  • Proven leadership skills and management/operations experience
