MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. • Valid Florida Registered Nurse license or a multi-state license from a compact state

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current Florida Department of Health employee
• Experience with managing contracts and budgets
• At least 3 years Nursing experience
• At least 3 years supervisory experience
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This individual is responsible for all supervisory duties and the management of assigned programs including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. Incumbent is responsible for approving direct reports’ timesheets and certifying Employee Activity Reports. Supervises and counsel’s staff. Motivates employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed. Plans workloads, workflows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with employees.

Supervises all Department of Health (DOH) – Lake Nursing staff to include support staff ensuring compliance within clinical program guidelines through implementation of evidence-based practice and State of Florida mandates. Works closely with the medical director in the performance, education, and monitoring of Nurse Practitioners through best practice initiatives.

Responsibilities include planning, directing, monitoring, and evaluating the DOH- Lake Clinical Operations, the School Health and TB Program.

Serves as back up for the VFC Vaccine Coordinator. Administers and assures compliance with the Compassionate Care Program and the Aids Drug Assistance Program.

Establishes guidelines for work assignments of nursing personnel. Assigns nursing staff members to duties at which they are competent and which they are legally authorized to perform. Utilizes nursing practice standards to monitor the nursing practice of professional and ancillary personnel to assure the delivery of quality nursing services.

In conjunction with QA/QI Coordinator, this position is responsible for quality assurance activities in the nursing programs.

Participates in the preparation of the CHD budget and administers the approved nursing budget. Assists in developing an annual spending plan for the approved nursing budget. Provides reports to nursing sections responsible for administering their portion of the budget and closely monitors the nursing spending plans for compliance.

Acts as liaison and resource for the nursing division in seeking contract/grant opportunities for nursing services. Collaborates with contract management team at DOH-Lake for contract proposals and implementation of contracts. Manages contracts for programs such as pharmacy, those with higher educational institutions, and local advocacy groups.

Participates in area and statewide task forces, reports problems in the delivery of health services and emerging problems of trends in the delivery of health services to the Assistant CHD Administrator.

Provides nursing leadership in the area of disaster preparedness. Plans, organizes and coordinates services in times of disaster. Participates with other community leaders on Special Needs Task Force and Medical Subcommittees as needed and authorized by the Asst. County Health Department (CHD) Administrator.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
