Job description: MOONDOG Animation is looking for a freelance Character Designer for consideration for potential future projects.

Position Summary

Working directly under the Studio Director and the Project Manager, you will help conceptualize the visual content of all projects assigned to you.

You will carry out new ideas and make propositions styles for each different project.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Create original designs
• Adapt the design style to the needs of the project
• Go creatively above and beyond the ask by proposing new design approaches
• Finalize and clean up designs (include turnarounds and rotations)
• Keep designs manageable and in line with the modeling and texture team
• Complete all character designs, including strong poses, facial expressions and model sheets.
• Work with production management to prioritize tasks and complete work on schedule
• Keep management informed of progress, changes and other critical issues

Qualifications and Skills

• 3+ years of directly related production experience as a visual development artist, in the Animation and/or CG Games industry required
• Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, Painting, Digital Art, related field, or equivalent work experience
• Expertise in Photoshop or equivalent, and digital techniques required
• Strong and well-developed traditional art skills, including knowledge of color, lighting, and perspective
• Expert knowledge of cinematic techniques, language and shot composition
• Knowledge of 3D and modeling experience a definite plus
• Strong, yet creative, problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well in a collaborative environment and take direction from Management.
• Passion for excellence and hard worker
