POSITION TITLE: Full-Time Sales Associate

TYPE: Full Time | Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Store Manager

SALARY: $11.25 per hour

ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION: Family Pathways works with communities to develop supportive, caring relationships to help people meet their basic needs. This is done by offering a safety net of essential services.

Family Pathways is a non-profit organization whose 10 Thrift Stores provide financial support to our Food Shelves, Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Services and Support for Older Adults and their Caregivers. Since 1978 Family Pathways has been committed to standing by the side of our neighbors. We’ve adapted to the needs of the communities we serve in the City of Forest Lake; Carlton, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine Counties in Minnesota and Polk County in Wisconsin.

POSITION SUMMARY: Assists in daily operations while building on customer loyalty through a focus on excellent customer service. Maintains a safe and pleasant atmosphere in a positive, professional manner. Understands the mission of Family Pathways while promoting our mission to customers, donors and volunteers.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer and Donor Engagement (30%)

  • Greet customers entering Family Pathways and assist them with any questions or concerns
  • Know and represent the mission and programs of Family Pathways and extend knowledge and information to customers, donors and volunteers
  • Be aware of and communicate information to customers and donors regarding current and upcoming promotions
  • Assist with the recruitment, training and recognition of our volunteers
  • Respect the gifts of merchandise and monetary donations given to Family Pathways by our donors
  • Maintain overall awareness of store activity

Operations (30%)

  • Assist management and store team to meet daily production goals, appropriate pricing and quality control
  • Operate cash register
  • Balance register drawer and verify change fund daily in accordance with store policies
  • Prepare and transport daily deposits in accordance to thrift store policies and procedures
  • Maintain an organized and efficient backroom and processing area to ensure safe and courteous donor engagement
  • Stock and organize merchandise on the sales floor in the appropriate area and keep displays full and impactful
  • Daily store recovery
  • Ensure a safe environment for all employees, volunteers, customers and donors
  • Work to eliminate waste and reduce trash costs, being mindful of repurposing and recycling donated items

Qualifications:

  • Team-oriented
  • Retail experience preferred

  • General math skills
  • Able to communicate effectively to staff, volunteers, donors and customers
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. as well as stand, lift, turn and bend for a full shift up to 10 hours
