Job description: Tonti Properties is a leading real estate company founded in 1960 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The company primarily focuses on the development, construction, management, and ownership of retail and multi-family apartment communities throughout the Southeast and Southwest.

Tonti Properties is currently seeking a full-time construction intern to assist with a large multifamily project in the Brier Creek submarket of Raleigh, North Carolina.

For someone wanting to get into commercial construction, this is a unique opportunity to work hand in hand with the on-site Owner’s Representative and to see the commercial construction process from the perspective of an Owner Developer.

Requirements

  • Assist in managing a project currently under construction to ensure adherence to development policies and procedures
  • Assist with checking plans, submittals, pricing requests, and managing contractor and professional communication
  • Analyze the construction draw process and monthly project schedules to determine if projects are on schedule and within the approved budget
  • Participate in professional consultant meetings through the project’s process
  • Analyze existing market conditions, property amenities and features, and rental rates at given properties to assist with Ownership decision making

Skill Requirements & Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of basic construction and real estate terms and concepts
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and goal-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Possess a natural curiosity and passion for functional design

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate and graduate students with 2022-2023 graduations
  • Demonstrated interest in construction, development, and/or real estate, either through past work experience or course work
  • Engineering, Real Estate, Construction Science, Management, Design or Architecture majors preferred
