Job description: Our direct client is seeking a C++, Linux/Unix, TCP/IP Developer for a contract in White Plains, NY.

Duties and Responsibilities:
– The Developer is responsible for all phases of the project life-cycle activities, from initial analysis through production support including design, implementation, testing, integration, and maintenance.
– Assist technical & product managers in the evaluation of product requirements for software applications.
– Develop detailed specifications.
– Provide accurate and reliable estimates for project tasks
– Application development, customization and integration of work
– Design, code and unit test the applications
– Maintain/modify existing software applications with periodic releases
– Create test plans and test tools; support testing and address on-line bug reports/issues
– Document applications for technical white papers, user guides and operations guide
– Be available after normal working hours to support production problems and deployments

SKILL MATRIX
– C and C++ programming – Required
– Development on Unix/Linux platforms – Required
– Experience with Linux/Unix and shell scripting exposure – Required
– Knowledge of Java, Perl, Python – Plus to Have
– TCP/IP – Required
– Multi-threading – Nice to Have
– Design Patterns, provide names also – Required
– Multicast knowledge – Plus to Have
– Understanding complex systems and how to debug problems – Required
– Experience with debuggers such as GDB, and memory checkers such as Valgrind – Required
– Experience with Source Control Management (SVN, CVS, GiT) – Plus to have
– Experience with unit testing and testing frameworks – Required
– SDLC experience as applicable to current development group processes – Required
– Ability to adhere to group standards – Required
– Teamwork – ability to work as project team member, work effectively with team leads, manager, as well as other groups including QA, Operations, and Product Management – Required
– Excellent written and verbal skills – Required
– Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field – Required
– Experience with MySQL – Plus to Have
– Understand market data behavior across multiple asset classes (Equities, options, fixed income, and derivatives) – Plus to Have
– Complex High Throughput, Low Latency systems – Plus to Have
– Experience with cloud based application development and setup – Plus to Have

Question 1: Given the reduced pandemic situation in the client location and following of strict procedures by the client, this position will start as Part On-Site and Part remote and convert more on-site and less remote as the pandemic situation gets better, and finally 100% onsite. Are you fine with it?
